Case 1

A 9-year-old girl presented with headaches and was seen to have a large tumor at the craniovertebral junction. The tumor is diffusely positive for keratin. What other stain(s) would you do? Aja51

Case 2

A young woman presented with upper arm pain and was found to have a mineralized tumor arising from the surface of the proximal humerus. An unusual case that was confirmed after the translocation results. What do you think they showed? Aja51

Case 3

A young patient presented with a rapidly growing soft tissue mass of the forearm. Does this tumor have any genetic similarities to the previous case (case 2)? Aja51

Case 4

A 35-year-old man complained of knee pain and was found to have a mineralized mass arising from the posterior distal aspect of the femur. What diagnosis do you favor and is there any stain or genetic study that might be helpful? Aja51

Case 5

A 27-year-old female with a history of a carcinoid tumor of the lung now presents with a shoulder mass that has been present 'for years'. Is this tumor related to the carcinoid tumor? Aja51

Case 6

A 57-year-old male presented with upper arm pain and was found to have a destructive lesion arising in the humerus causing a pathologic fracture. How would you work this tumor? Given the diagnosis is there anything unusual about his presentation? Aja51

Case 7

A 34-year-old male presented with constitutional symptoms and a supraclavicular mass. Immunohistochemical stains showed positive staining for keratin (MNF 116) CD56 and synaptophysin. There was no staining for chromogranin or INSM1. The diagnosis of metastatic neuroendocrine carcinoma was favored but then the translocation assay came back. Aja51

Case 8

A 49-year-old man presented with a thigh mass that was biopsied and resected. What is the differential diagnosis and other any particular stains that you would like to order? Aja51

Case 9

This is a mediastinal mass in a 54-year-old female with a history of breast cancer and ovarian carcinoma. What is the diagnosis and can this tumor be associated with any particular syndrome? Aja51

Case 10

A 33-year-old man complained of shoulder pain and was found to have a lesion involving the proximal humerus. Are there any stains that might be helpful in diagnosing this tumor? Aja51

Case 11

A 27-year-old female complaint of hip pain was found to have a lesion involving the femoral neck.

What is the diagnosis and is any staining that could confirm the diagnosis?

What is unusual about the radiographic findings?
Aja51

Case 12

A 60-year-old male with a tumor of the thoracic spine.

What diagnosis to favor? Is there any staining that can confirm the diagnosis?

What are the two unusual aspects of this case?
Aja51

Case 13

A 71-year-old female with a history of breast carcinoma presented with a chest wall mass.

What are two important questions to ask?

What is the differential diagnosis and what stain might help diagnose this tumor?
Aja51

Case 14

A 46-year-old man had a total hip replacement for osteoarthritis. What is the diagnosis and what is the primary defect in this disease? Aja51

Case 15

A 46-year-old man presented with bilateral femoral fractures.

What is your diagnosis by slight reading alone?

Does not fit with the radiographic findings?
Aja51

Case 16

A 73-year-old female with a recurrent tumor involving the temporomandibular joint. The original diagnosis was synovial chondromatosis. Do you agree with the diagnosis? Aja51

Case 17

A 24-year-old male presented with foot pain and was found to have a tumor involving the fourth metacarpal bone. What three stains would you like to order to confirm the diagnosis? Aja51

Case 18

A 46-year-old man presented with a shoulder lesion.

This controversial tumor is not included in the WHO classification of soft tissue tumors.

What is your diagnosis?
