Moderately active chronic ileo-colitis (see note).
Note: The lamina propria is edematous to hyalinized in areas with patchy crypt injury and focally increased crypt apoptoses. The differential diagnosis includes medication injury, infection, ischemic changes, and inflammatory bowel disease among others. One positive cell on CMV immunohistochemical stain with no correlate on H&E stain.
