Eligibility
- Ideally, the applicant should have a strong demonstrated interest in Pathology as a specialty career.
- The MGH Pathology Scholar Program is open to medical students who meet the following criteria:
- Underrepresented in medicine (UIM)
- Completion of at least 2 core clinical rotations and passing score on USMLE1; applicant must be academically competitive for residency application.
- Attended/Attending a college or medical school in the US and Puerto Rico
- US citizens or permanent residents If accepted, proof of health insurance will be required
Benefits for students
- Medical students (MS) will gain focused exposure in an area of Pathology tailored to their interests.
- Medical students will have the opportunity to work on a project under the guidance of an MGH Faculty member.
- In the process, medical students will have a unique opportunity to experience MGH Pathology firsthand, and to have MGH faculty become familiar with them as students. The project, interaction with faculty and mentorship will strengthen their potential as applicants and increase the likelihood they will apply and want to matriculate at MGH Pathology.
- Provides an opportunity for excellent students to visit our program, who may not have otherwise visited for financial reasons.
