Corneal stromal downgrowth through the limbal scar and spreading into the angle and onto the iris surface. 3. In the vitreous near the far peripheral retina (near the ora serrata) • there are acellular • basophilic particles that are birefringent with cross-polarized light. These are asteroid hyalosis particles. 5. The retinal ganglion cell layer is severely attenuated throughout the retina • secondary to chronic glaucoma from the angle closure. 6. The retinal photoreceptors are attenuated to a variable degree throughout the retina. 7. The optic nerve has thickened pial septae and loss of the axon bundles along with cupping of the nerve head; these features indicate glaucomatous optic atrophy.
